Masters Winners – Bespoke Golf Honours Board

Green wooden Masters Winners honours board for Augusta National showing Multiple Winners and British Winners sections with gold lettering.

Wooden

A private commission with a difference. Our customer wanted a bespoke honours board to record the winners of The Masters, the green jacket champions of Augusta, displayed at his apartment at Hamilton Grand on Golf Place in St Andrews. Overlooking the 18th green of the Old Course, it is arguably the most fitting address in world golf for a board of this kind.

The brief was clear. A traditional wooden board, sized to suit a specific spot on the wall, finished in a deep green that nods to the tournament itself, and laid out to record every champion with their nationality alongside the year. We designed and manufactured the board to those specifications, with the layout planned around long-term updates so each April's winner can be added in keeping with the rest.

Design Highlights

The board was produced from a light oak panel with a solid oak frame, finished at 585 × 905mm. Rather than leave the timber natural, the whole face and frame were painted in Dulux Pine Needle, the closest off-the-shelf match to the famous Augusta green. The result is a deep, slightly muted green that sits well against the white lettering and reads as understated rather than gimmicky.

Lettering and dividing lines were applied in matt white vinyl directly to the painted face, chosen for clean contrast and long-term legibility. Each entry records the year, the champion's name, and their country, with small digitally printed national flags on white PVC applied alongside the names. A printed Masters logo sits at the top of the board.

The columns were planned with future winners in mind, leaving space for new entries to be added in the same vinyl lettering each spring. Brass mirror fixings were supplied for wall mounting, giving a secure fit with a discreet, traditional look. Small board. A lot of history on it.

Summary

Most of the honours boards we produce are commissioned by clubs, schools and regiments. Private commissions like this one are less common, but they tend to be among the most enjoyable to work on. The customer knows exactly what they want, the subject matter is personal, and the finished piece has to earn its place on a specific wall in a specific room.

For a golf enthusiast living a short walk from the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse, a board recording every Masters champion is a natural choice. The Pine Needle green ties the board visually to the tournament without resorting to anything obvious, and the white vinyl with printed flags gives each entry the same weight, from Horton Smith in 1934 through to the most recent winner.

We produce boards of this kind for clubhouses, snooker rooms, home bars and private studies as well as for golf clubs themselves. The principles are the same: durable materials, accurate layout, and a finish that will still look right in twenty years. As you'd expect, updates each year are straightforward, with new lettering produced to match and supplied ready to apply.
