Masters Winners – Golf Honours Board, St Andrews

Wooden
Not every golf honours board needs to follow a conventional clubhouse format. This project centred on a private commission to produce a single golf honours board recording Masters winners — a highly specific and prestigious subject that demanded careful design attention. The brief called for a board that carried genuine visual weight while remaining elegant enough to suit a refined setting. We designed and manufactured a bespoke straight-top wooden board to meet exactly those requirements, delivering to the client's address in St Andrews, Fife — perhaps the most fitting location in the world for a board dedicated to golf's most celebrated major.

Design Highlights
The board was produced from a light oak veneered MDF panel set within a solid oak frame painted in Dulux Pine Needle — a deep, muted green that immediately evokes Augusta National without resorting to cliché. The overall board size is 585 × 905 mm, a compact but authoritative format well suited to a private display.
Lettering and dividing lines were produced in matt white vinyl, chosen for its clean contrast against the warm oak panel. White on light oak is a less common combination than the traditional black, but here it lifts the entries off the surface and reinforces the distinctive colour scheme established by the painted frame. The vinyl lettering was laid out in a structured columnar format to accommodate year, winner, and relevant detail in a clear, consistent sequence.
A digitally printed logo was applied to the face on a white PVC substrate, providing a crisp centrepiece at the head of the board. The board was finished with brass mirror fixings for secure and straightforward wall mounting — a classic fixing choice that complements the oak and painted frame combination.
Summary
Private commissions like this one demonstrate that honours boards are by no means confined to the clubhouse wall. A board dedicated to a single competition's roll of honour — curated and displayed privately — is a legitimate and increasingly popular format, particularly for golf enthusiasts with a deep connection to the game's history.
The design choices here — the Pine Needle frame, the white vinyl lettering, the printed logo — show how much character can be built into a relatively compact board when the specification is thought through carefully. Wooden honours boards of this type are well suited to private settings precisely because they carry the same craft and finish as their full-scale clubhouse counterparts, scaled to suit the space.
The board was packed and delivered directly to St Andrews — a detail that felt entirely appropriate given the subject matter. Whether the project is a single private piece or a full suite of club boards, we bring the same attention to specification, layout, and finish to every order.
