Coastline Graphics – Curved Top Wooden Honours Board

Wooden
Coastline Graphics, based in Bury Saint Edmunds, Suffolk, commissioned a bespoke wooden honours board to recognise and record achievements within their organisation. A well-made honours board does more than fill a wall — it creates a focal point that acknowledges the people who have contributed most, and gives future members something to aspire to. Working from their brief, we designed and manufactured a single curved-top board that balances a traditional aesthetic with clean, easy-to-read lettering.
The curved-top format is one of our most popular choices for organisations that want a board with a degree of character and presence without moving into more elaborate architectural styles. Paired with a light oak finish and crisp matt black lettering, it gives a result that sits comfortably in both modern and period interiors alike.

Design Highlights
The board was manufactured at 900 × 1200 mm — a generous format that provides ample capacity for names, dates, and category headings without the layout feeling crowded. The curved-top profile adds a traditional arch to the silhouette, giving the finished piece a polished, formal quality.
Construction used light oak faced MDF for the central panel, chosen for its consistent grain appearance and dimensional stability, paired with a solid oak frame to give the board strength and a high-quality edge detail. Light oak is a particularly versatile finish — warm enough to feel welcoming, neutral enough not to compete with other interior elements.
All honours board lettering was produced in matt black cut vinyl, applied directly to the face of the board. Matt black against light oak provides strong contrast and reliable legibility, ensuring entries can be read clearly even at a distance. Dividing lines and structured column layouts keep the information ordered and easy to follow as the board fills up over time.
The board was fitted with brass mirror fixings for wall mounting — a tidy and secure method that sits flush with the surface and complements the warm tones of the oak frame.
Summary
A curved-top wooden honours board in light oak is a format we produce regularly for a wide range of organisations — from sports clubs and schools through to businesses and professional bodies. The combination of a solid oak frame, light oak veneer panel, and matt black vinyl lettering has proven itself over many years as a reliable, long-lasting choice that looks as good on the day of installation as it does a decade later.
One of the practical advantages of vinyl lettering on this type of board is how straightforward future updates are. When new names need adding, the board comes back to us — or we send out a new lettering strip — and the layout remains consistent with the original design. There is no need to commission a replacement board simply because a few more entries are required.
