Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club Honours Board

Wooden
This bespoke honours board was produced for Plymouth Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club, recognising county and national achievements within the club and commemorating the achievements of valued members. Designed to sit comfortably within a traditional club environment, the board balances formality with warmth and is easily updatable by the club themselves.
From the outset, the aim was to create a board that would look as relevant in twenty years as it does today, without costing a small fortune.

Gable Top to Allow Logo Placement
The board is manufactured with a solid hardwood frame and finished with a rich, dark stain that enhances the natural grain of the timber. This darker background provides excellent contrast for the cream-coloured lettering, making names and achievements easy to read even from a distance.
A shaped top was chosen to allow placement of the clubs logo without losing board space, giving the wooden honours board a strong visual identity. At the base, a discreet dedication has been included, ensuring the board serves both as a record of achievement and a respectful memorial.
All text was carefully laid out in-house to maintain consistent spacing and alignment, allowing for future updates without disrupting the overall balance of the design.
A Board Designed to Grow with the Club
This honours board demonstrates how traditional materials and careful design can create something that feels permanent, respectful, and easy to maintain. By working closely with the club, we ensured the layout allows additional names and achievements to be added over time without compromising the original design.
From artwork preparation through to manufacture, everything was handled in-house, giving the club confidence that the finished board would meet expectations both visually and practically. It’s a strong example of how a well-made honours board can become a lasting focal point within a bowls club.
