Corporate Acrylic Honours Board with Solid Oak Frame

Acrylic
A corporate client came to us looking for a single award board that would sit comfortably in a modern office setting without losing the formality you'd expect from a traditional honours display. The brief was specific. The board needed to recognise internal award winners, carry the company's brand colours, and read clearly across a busy reception space. Off-the-shelf wasn't going to work. The brand uses a distinctive orange that doesn't translate well onto stained timber, and the team wanted the warmth of a wooden frame around something cleaner and more contemporary in the centre.
We worked through the design with them in stages, settling on a hybrid build: an acrylic honours board for the panel itself, set inside a solid oak frame with matching beading. The finished piece keeps the brand front and centre while still feeling like a permanent fixture rather than a print.

Materials and Finish
The panel was produced in 8mm acrylic, sized at 1500 x 850mm and seated inside a solid oak frame with matching beading. The frame softens the otherwise sharp lines of the acrylic and ties the board to the timber detailing already used elsewhere in the building.
Colour was the part we spent the most time on. The brand orange is bold, and getting it to read accurately against a wooden surround took a couple of proofs. We applied IP5772 Intense Orange vinyl to the rear of the panel as a full background, which gives the colour real depth when light catches the face. Content lettering was then cut from IP5720 Apricot vinyl, a softer tone that sits well against the deeper orange behind it. Thin gloss white pin lines divide the columns and stop the layout from feeling crowded.
The header, the company logo, and each award title were treated differently. Rather than printing them flat, we cut each one from clear acrylic, applied vinyl to the face, and bonded the pieces directly onto the board. The result is a subtle raised effect, almost like a plaque sitting on top of a plaque. You notice it when you stand close to it. From across the room, the board reads as one clean composition.
Why This Build Works for a Corporate Setting
Corporate award boards have a slightly different job to do than a sports club or school equivalent. They sit in client-facing spaces. They're seen by staff every day. And they need to age well as the company itself evolves, without looking dated within five years.
Acrylic was the right call here for two reasons. First, it carries colour beautifully, which mattered given how central the brand orange was to the brief. Painted or printed timber would have flattened the tone. Second, acrylic is low-maintenance in a working office. A wipe with a soft cloth is genuinely all it needs. The oak frame, meanwhile, gives the board the gravity that pure acrylic on its own can sometimes lack in a formal reception.
Updates were built into the layout from the start. As new winners are added each year, we produce the additional vinyl lettering in the same Apricot to match exactly, and the client applies it in-house using the alignment guides we supply. Brass mirror fixings were specified for the install, so the board can be lifted down for cleaning or repositioning without damaging the wall.
If you're planning a corporate awards display and want something that carries your brand properly rather than feeling like a generic plaque, get in touch and we'll talk through the options.
Our honours board prices start from £250, depending on size / material options.
